The bread and buns are amazing.I freeze and toast to keep fresh. It is hard to justify ever buying store bought bread again! Yum!
Great food for on the go. Lots of high sugary stuff, but if gluten is your only issue great options. Nice pies for the holidays.
I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I wanted to share my experience so that hopefully others avoid my frustration. I went to the bakery today and purchased 2 loaves of "sourdough" bread, a pack of butter tarts and a few other items. I noticed that the bread didn't smell quite right, but I was in a rush and needed to get home. When I arrived home and sliced it, I discovered that it wasn't sourdough it was plain white bread. It does not have the sour fermented flavour or smell that proper sourdough has. I was also disappointed to find that the butter tarts were dry and stale - the sugar filling inside having hardened and crystallized. I called about the issue with the bread mix up and was told that sourdough and white bread are the same, which they are not. I definitely wouldn't go back and would urge you to spend your money elsewhere. Gluten free products are expensive enough as it is, at least you should get what you are paying for.
I have a gluten, corn, dairy and soy intolerance. And a preference for whole foods and ingredients I can understand... so This makes finding bread products I can buy a serious challenge! I am SO grateful to have found these guys. The search is over, I love this product so much and I feel great eating it. Thank you!!
We, unfortunately, were unable to get anything here because we didn't have a Canadian credit card. I understand if you don't want to pay the processing fee (since we're American), but we were planning on buying roughly $40 worth of product. At a bakery, that's quite a bit. Additionally, if you don't accept American credit cards, maybe put a sign on your door or let us know before we order. When we weren't able to buy the product, we were treated very rudely and left. It's a shame because everything in the shop looked wonderful and obviously if you need to eat gluten-free, I ASSUME this would be a good place to go since they had a lot of variety.
I tried the chicken panini here and the bread portion doesn't taste as good as it smells. The aroma is very nice, but the crust is dry feeling. I found it hard to eat.I also bought a box of granola bars that just came out fresh. The lady literally just put it in the box. Smells and tastes great. Definitely worthwhile to take on a hike. It's located inside the mall with entrance being along Lonsdale Ave. You can smell the fresh bread from outside the door. Once entered the mall, go straight as it's right at the end of the long hallway.I bought the apple pie as well, but have yet to try it. Will update this review later.Easy access and easy to find as there is a sandwich board outside on the sidewalk.
Wow, you could smell this bakery from down the hall. Reminds me of the bakery I used to go to in the 80's as the mall is a bit out of date, but the amount of goods there was incredible. I wish I had a bigger stomach!
Very tasty bread! Very friendly staff! I will be buying my bread here from now on!
